Levy election in February

There will be a significant decrease in the Richland School District tax rate if voters approve the 2019-2022 levy in February. New state finance regulations require less dependence on local levies.

The upcoming local levy will be comprised of two parts which total $2.00 per $1000 of assessed valuation, significantly lower than the current $3.40 levy rate:

  • Educational Programs Levy -
  • $1.50 per $1000 assessed valuation.
  • Money used for extracurricular activities, additional staff (i.e. adequate number of nurses and paraprofessionals), professional development, teacher pay for extra time, course offerings (i.e. zero hour).

  • Technology Levy -
  • $0.50 per $1000 assessed valuation.
  • Money used for replacing tech equipment and staff training.

Current 2017 levy      Proposed 2019-2022 levy
$3.40 per $1000          $2.00 per $1000*

*Yearly property taxes will decrease $280 on a $200,000 home.
